adult choir

In addition to the Primo Piano, the music school in Cardiff is also home to the award-winning Insole Court Choir. This is a non-audition choir which meets in the Drawing Room of the Main House at Insole Court, Llandaff, Cardiff from 7.30pm until 9.00pm every Thursday during term time. The choir runs in tandem with the school terms and there are various performance opportunities: always some Christmas concerts,a variety of charity performances and at least one competition each year. In the summer we like to perform ‘open-air’ with our  ‘Summer Solstice Sing’ and to entertain the general public at the Llandaff Rowing Club Raft Race.

Its members come from all walks of life. Some are experienced singers with strong music reading skills whilst others just enjoy to sing or are returning after singing as a child and/or young adult. In short, we support each other and whilst the emphasis is firmly on fun and self-development, the choir has won cups at the Cheltenham Festival for Performing Arts on two separate occasions (2019 and 2022) singing a wide mixture of music from Sacred to Musical Theatre. We love variety, but if there is a common theme, it’s that we like to sing music with strong melodies, beautiful harmonies and poignant lyrics

You are most welcome to call in on a Thursday and join in, but please get in touch via our quick contact form to let us know you are coming.

The first session is free, but long term there is a charge of £5 per session (paid termly, excluding school holidays) to cover the cost of room hire, musical director and when possible the accompanist. The choir is not profit making and any proceeds from our termly concerts are in aid of The Insole Court Community Trust in order to maintain this fabulous Mansion House and community asset.

The Choir is conducted by the director of Primo Music, Tim Riley MA, AC ABRSM(Piano)
