Who runs the choir? The choir is conducted by Tim Riley MA, AC ABRSM (the director of Primo Music). Tim is a publish composer and arranger with a wealth of experience with community choirs.
Audition – No audition is required, but we do expect you to be able to ‘hold a tune’. If in doubt ask and Tim can offer some advice (email below)
Music reading – We use music, but we offer lots of help with learning your parts including rehearsal tracks that can be easily accessed online.
Repertoire – We sing a wide mixture of music from Sacred to Musical Theatre. There’s lots of variety, and if there is a common theme, it’s strong melodies, beautiful harmonies and poignant lyrics. Both choirs have their own repertoire and identity, but will perform together from time to time for larger events.
Who else will I be singing with? Our member come from all walks of life. Some are experienced singers whilst others just enjoy singing and may be returning to music after singing as a child and/or young adult. The emphasis is firmly on fun and self-development and fulfilment.
Performances and Dates – The year is structured in three terms (around 39 weeks a year in total) with, on average, a couple of performances towards the end of each term. Most of our performances support important charities.
Competitions – We like to take part in a competition once each year. The choir has won cups at The Cheltenham Festival of Performing Arts three times! (2019, 2022 and 2025).
Cost – Your first session is free. Sessions are £6 a week (payable termly) and if two people attend from the same household, the second person pays half price. If you are from a low income household please send an email (in strictest confidence) to Tim at the email below outlining your situation, for instance you may be a student, unemployed or a single parent, and we may be able to offer your ‘half price subs’.
